  1. I am Cecil Mainer’s niece. My father was Melvin Mainer who died in 1977. I was curious as to your relationship to Aunt Mildred (I see you are a part of the Heinzmann family tree). I haven’t seen David and Ruthie in something like 40, or more, years. Uncle Cecil called my mother, Albertine, a few weeks before he died. When she told me about the call I wrote a letter to him, but never mailed it. I was curious about so many things regarding the Mainer family, but wanted to know if he knew anything about the American Indian background of my grandmother, Hattie.

I am so sorry that we never stayed in touch. The last time I saw my cousins, they lived in a farm house in Hoffman and had a St. Bernard. Ruthie called my mother just after Uncle Cecil called her to say that he had pneumonia and things didn’t look good.

I had not seen the photo of Uncle Cecil and Aunt Mildred. Thank you for posting it. The last time I saw her she was a nurse and had dark hair. Since we lived in far South Texas, we only made it up to Illonis every once in a while.

I look forward to hearing from you.
