Genealogy Progress Notes
I decided to start posting my progress notes in the blog rather than on the front page so here are my first set of notes:
I finished working through some information from Bernard Strominski concerning the Heinzmann families in Germany. As I update the reports on my site, this information will start appearing. For now, it made a big difference in the number of individuals (from 9,779 to 9946) and families (from 3,650 to 3,703). It also added many surnames so I am posting a new surname report.
Here is all the info left from my previous progress notes:
March 2008
• I’ve added an Obituary Report. It’s not complete, yet but it is functional and contains some names that were requested by other researchers through the Clinton County Illinois Rootsweb mailing list. These obituaries were published in the Carlyle Union Banner.
January 2008
• I received a comment from a friend – “What’s all this red and yellow stuff on your webpage?” Well take a look at the coat of arms, below. This is the coat of arms for the Großherzogtum Baden or Grand Duchy of Baden. The Grand Duchy of Baden was a state in the southwest of Germany, on the right bank of the Rhine. It existed between 1806 and 1918 and is now a part of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. We have tracked the roots of our HEINZMANN Family back to Östringen, Baden, Germany

• I am still working on digesting the information in the book “Jennings, Davidson and Allied Families”. As is usual with this wonderful hobby, each new discovery answers some questions but raises many more.
December 2007
• My Grandmother Isabelle REYNOLDS HEINZMANN always used to say we were related to William Jennings BRYAN. Thanks to my dear friend, I have now made the connection. I have included a Relationship Chart, below. I have also updated Dad’s Ancestor Report.
• A dear friend and fellow researcher pointed me to a book by Lillie Pauline White titled “Jennings, Davidson and Allied Families” (Seattle, Washington: Sherman Printing and Binding Company, 1944), reprinted by Higginson Book Company, Salem, Massachusetts. This book traces my Dad’s lineage on his mother’s side all the way back to the 16th century.
• Getting to know the TNG database has been a bit of a problem! First I tried to load all my pictures and quickly ran out of space. In the process of deleting the pictures, I must have crashed the database. I have reloaded the database but have very few pictures. In the future, I’ll reload the links so users will be able to see where I have pictures and request them as appropriate
November 2007
• A friend referred me to genealogy website software called The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding© (”TNG”). This software allows me to put most of my database online without having to build special reports. I’m just now setting it up and would love to have people help me troubleshoot the security and appearance. Just click on Register for a User Account and we will connect you!
October 2007
• I created a website for my youngest child – this lovely lady and he have a wedding planned for next year – check it out at http://kennyandtree.com
