8. James Wood¹ was born in 1817/18 in Tennessee.¹ He died in 1862/63 in Illinois.¹ Guardianship papers filed in Effingham in 1862 declair James dead. James Wood and Clarissa Staley were married on 5 Dec 1838 in White County, Illinois.¹ It is believed that Clarissa died before 1850. The three boys were split up. Nancy (Wood) Gillstry took Wm and Alex with her to Effingham (1850 census). Ira was raised by Elizabeth (Wood) Gilbert. She is also in Effingham (1850). Nancy, Wm., and Alex all disappear before 1860.

We cannot find James or his father's family (William Wood) in 1850. They disappear from White Co., IL.

9. Clarissa Staley¹ was born between 1819 and 1821.¹ She died in 1848/49.¹ Children were:

	i.	William Wood1 was born in 1839. He died in Dec 1863 in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee.
	ii.	Alex Wood was born in 1842.1
