Anna Fay Cherry
Anna Fay Cherry, 82, of Mt. Vernon died 8:15 a.m. Dec. 29, 2006, at the
White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Hamilton County to Orvil and Anna (Thomas)
Duncan. On July 9, 1939 in Morganfield, Ky. she married John Hall Cherry. He
preceded her in death on May 17, 2005.
Anna was retired from the Mammoth Department Store where she was employed
for over 40 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt.
Vernon.
Survivors include sons John Cherry and wife Janice, and Wayne Cherry and
wife Sally, both of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Jennifer Zuniga and husband Al
of Deer Park, Tx., Matt Cherry and wife Kristen of Nashville, Tenn., and Bryan
Cherry & wife Ashley of Weatogue, CT.; step grandchildren Jadie & husband
Dave Thomas of Brentwood, Tenn., April and husband Travis Hertenstein of Mt.
Vernon, and Bryn Ealey of Chicago; five great grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews; sisters Lois Shoemaker, and Nancy and husband Tom Cocagne; brothers
Charles and wife Lou Duncan, and Carl and wife Kay Duncan; brother-in-law Norval
Mick, and sister-in-law Virginia Cherry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hall, parents, sisters Helen and
husband Harold “Curley” Quinn and Norma Jean Mick, brothers-in-law
Kenny Shoemaker, Neil Cherry and Carl and wife Helen Heinzmann.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon
with Rev. David Shores officiating. Burial will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery.
