2. Nancy Caroline Sargent was born on 20 May 1831 in Saint Clair County, Illinois.^1,5,6 The date of birth is given as 20 May 1831 by Regina Davidson but as 20 Mar 1831 by Dr Bill Sargent.
She appeared in the census in 1840 in Saint Clair County, Illinois.⁴ She died on 4 Mar 1904 in Mayfield, Sumner County, Kansas.⁵ She was buried in Osborne Cemetery, Mayfield, Sumner County, Kansas.⁵ There is some confusion about the final resting place. Dr Bill Sargent listed Caroline's place of death as Mayfield, Kansas and her burial in Osborne Cemetery, Mayfield, Kansas. Mayfield is in Sumner County. Osborne Cemetery is in Osborne, Osborne County. I haven't had an opportunity to find out if they are close to each other.

Nancy Caroline Sargent and Samuel Alexander Hill were married on 20 Feb 1850 in Saint Clair County, Illinois.⁶ Dr Bill Sargent provided most of the information about this family in a letter to Frankie C. Heinzmann dated 26 Jul (1995). The insert in the letter states that Dr Bill received most of his information from Helen Baker, great-granddaughter of Nancy and Samuel Hill. Samuel Alexander Hill⁶ (son of Henry B Hill and Sarah Lamastess) was born on 8 Jul 1828.^5,9 He immigrated about 1882 to Kansas.⁹ He died on 30 Nov 1902.⁵ He was buried in Osborne Cemetery, Mayfield, Sumner County, Kansas.⁵ Nancy Caroline Sargent and Samuel Alexander Hill had the following children:

8	ii.	Margaret E Hill was born on 29 May 1854 in Saint Clair County (or Monroe County?), Illinois.5 She died on 26 Aug 1858. She was buried in Hill Cemetery or Smithton.
