Flora Irene Behrens, 86, of Shattuc died Thursday at 2:25 p.m. at Barnes
Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born in rural Centralia in Clinton County on August 13, 1905, the
daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Speiser) Noller.
She married Rudolph E. Behrens on May 5, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
He preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by two sons, Ben Behrens of rural Bartelso and Ron Behrens
of Shattuc; one daughter, Joan Wham of Centralia; one brother, Irvin Noller of
Alton; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Behrens was the Shattuc correspondent for the Centralia Sentinel for
56 years. She and her husband operated Behrens Furniture Store in Shattuc for
many years. During the 1920's, she taught grade school in Shattuc. She received
her teaching certificate from Southern Illinois University. She belonged to the
Shattuc United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women's Society and the Clinton
County Historical Society.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Day Funeral Home in
Sandoval. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held
from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Day Funeral Home and Sunday until the time of
service.
Memorials may be made to the Shattuc United Methodist Church.
