She died on 6 Jun 1943 in Saint Joseph's Hospital, Breese, Clinton County, Illinois.2,28 From Orrell's book:
MRS. FANNIE KOCH DIES
Mrs. Fannie Koch, 83, among the oldest native born citizens of Clinton county, died at 1:45 o'clock a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's hospital in Breese. She has been a patient there several weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning in St. Mary's church, Carlyle, with Rev. Bernard Hilgeinberg in charge. Interment in the Sandoval Cemetery. Until the time for the church services the body will remain at the Frerker Funeral home, Carlyle.
Fannie Speiser, daughter of the Heinzmann Speiser, was born May 23, 1860, on a farm in Meridian township near Shattuc. She had resided in the county ever since. In February, 1880, she was united in marriage to George Koch, and they resided on a farm near Shattuc for over forty years. They moved to Carlyle in 1922, and Mr. Koch died in 1925. The family, home was in the northwest part of the city.
As the result of this marriage five children were born. One son, Alfred, died in infancy. Those surviving are, William Koch, Sheridan Springs, Kan.; Mrs. Emma Wedekemper, Carlyle; Edwin Koch, Flora, Ill.; Mrs. Elizabeth Mueller, of Mineola, Tex.; also 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Noller, Shattuc; Mrs. Flora McClardy, Alberta, Canada; and Mrs. Steve Stein, of Parsons, Kan.
Mrs. Koch was among the highly esteemed ladies of her original home community and Carlyle.
She was buried on 9 Jun 1943 in Sandoval City Cemetery, Sandoval, Illinois, New Section, Row 3.5,13,52 Funeral: in St. Mary's Church, Carlyle, Illinois.5,52 She was also known as Francesca (Franziska) Speiser.27
